The house of Du Fu, a famous Tang dynasty realist poet, has lived on the thatched cottage at the southern suburbs of the city. This cottage is not merely a simple structure but it encompasses a large land area that forms a classical garden. Another famous place is the Temple of Wu, where a shrine for Zhuge Liang is erected during the Three Kingdoms period. The place that has brought prosperity to Chengdu is the Dujiangyan Irrigation System that made the Chengdu plain fertile; this is now recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Wenshu Temple should not also be missed, as it contains over a hundred Buddha statues, which are delicately made by the craftsmen of the Qing dynasty.

Chengdu has also something to offer on nature’s bounty that is also appreciated by tourists. Mt Siguniang is proudly snow capped mountain that boasts of primeval beauty: a combination of forests, lakes, glaciers, and natural falls all contribute to its exquisiteness. Also, the endangered Giant Panda is taken cared of by the Panda Research Base, in its noble cause of preserving this animal species.blendanoreply@blogger.com
